What is the difference between web design and web development? Which one makes more money on average?

August 8th, 2010 by LookOutGFX.com

I am thinking of going into either web development or web design. I know the small differences but what I really want to know is which one makes more money? If I am going to choose one of these as a career path, I want to make the best choice I can.

Web designers make websites like Facebook appealing, eye-catching, and graphically functional.
Web developers make websites like Facebook work.

I daresay the developers are paid more because they are computer programmers, not just graphic designers on Macs. (And no, having a Mac isn't required; it's cheaper but not as elitist to have a PC).

Web design means the web design of the any website. Using web design , we can make our application more appealing and good.

Web Development means developers or programmers make any website like http://www.yahoo.com, http://www.ebay.com.

Web design and web development are two different sectors of the website industry. While artistically you may feel more rewarded in the web design field, web development is a quick growing trade. With the vast amount of social media phenomena's happening right now on the internet, development is heavily needed for all of these to function. Therefore there can be good money to be made in this area. However, sometimes for a developer you have to be in the right place at the right time. Personally I am a web designer who owns my own firm and I do quite well for a living, however I could make more money by being a developer sometimes. There is a video from another web design company that explains some of the advantages and disadvantages of both trades at http://blog.informativecomputersolutions.com/?p=91 . My suggestion is for you to employ yourself in both trades. You will make even more money being qualified and valued in both of these fields.
