I'd say get a sketchbook and start trying different things. Then worry about what software will help. A computer and fancy software are merely tools, just like a sheet of paper and a pencil. It's what you are willing to do to learn, how much time and effort, and really how much you are willing to just try things and keep working them that will determine what you'll be able to do. good luck!
